THE OBSERVER, October 9, 2000
          Phillip Weiss is a fabulous writer.  Thus, this needs no explanation, for the meeting that took place at our friend Sue Blair’s Fourth of July celebration, and the article that followed, happened exactly as Phillip describes it.  He wrote the story, over the course of several months, and several visits to Mouse Heaven.  On one occasion, he even brought his mother.  He also interviewed many of my friends and fellow Comic Character collectors to get their insights and opinions.  He shared with me a transcript of his interview with my friend Maurice Sendak.  It is something I will always treasure. 

When the written part was finished, Phillip’s editor liked the story so much he sent a photographer up to document it in full color.  Hiding my face behind a mask was another of my dumb ideas!  On October 9, 2000, the article appeared on the front page of the” Observatory” section of the “NEW YORK OBSERVER.”  Here it is, Full Size:
